University of Arizona Neighborhood

The University of Arizona is located in Central Tucson, and this section of town encompasses some of Tucson’s most unique neighborhoods. Central Tucson’s neighborhoods are quite varied in terms of style, and there are several areas that have been designated as historic districts. You may notice the distinguishing architectural features and sense the older and historic character of the homes as you travel different sections of the neighborhood.

Adding flair and character to the University of Arizona neighborhood is the Fourth Avenue Trolley, which runs along University Boulevard connecting the Main Gate Square (at the university’s main gates) to the vibrant, one-of-a-kind shopping and restaurant area found on Fourth Avenue. Throughout the neighborhood, styles of homes you may observe include Mission, Spanish Revival, Tudor, Pueblo, and Queen Anne. Homes in the area start in the mid $100K range and availability continues to over $1M. There are numerous condos and inexpensive apartment options with all the recreational amenities within close proximity to the university.

You’ll find a vast variety of modestly priced and delicious dining choices in the area. Try Stadium Sports Grill and Wildcat House to watch the game and have a beer. Nightlife abounds-enjoy the London pub atmosphere at Frog & Firkin, have a cocktail at The Shelter, or dance the night away at The Rock.

There’s plenty of outdoor activity within reach at Himmel Park, Rillito Park Racetrack, and Hi Corbett Field, home of Colorado Rockies baseball spring training. Enjoy concerts and all types of shows and films at the historic Rialto Theater. More cultural activity can be found at Laff’s Comedy Cafe, the University of Arizona Repertory Theater, Zuzi’s Little Theater, or the Franklin Museum for classic car buffs. Shop for health food or an extensive selection of beer and wine at Time Market. Explore special events like the Dry River Collective or the Native American Month Powwow and Craft Market. There’s sure to be something of interest to everyone in the diverse University of Arizona neighborhood.
