Preview Vail Arizona homes below!

Vail received its name from Walter Vail, a cattleman who owned the Empire Ranch (now the Cienga Creek Natural Preserve) in the late 1800’s. Known as the “town between the tracks” because of its proximity to two major Southern Pacific Railroad lines, Vail sits at an elevation of 3235′ and covers 18.21 square miles. Located in prosperous Pima County, you’ll see great views of the Rincon Mountains in Vail, and many of the residents of this bedroom community 21 miles southeast of Tucson have a 30 minute commute to work.

Home styles you’ll commonly see in Vail include Santa Fe, Contemporary, and Territorial. There are also homes available in several gated communities, and Del Webb at Rancho Del Lago is a popular 55+ retirement community here. Vail is a rapidly growing area with a lot of newly constructed homes, as population has risen to approximately 9398 from the 2484 recorded in the 2000 census. Home prices range from the low $100Ks to over $500K. The estimated median household income is around $58,500, and several of Vail Unified School District’s schools have been rated “Highly Performing” or “Excelling” by the Arizona Department of Education.

Vail’s historically intriguing cultural background begins with the Native American, Spanish Colonial, Mexican, and American settlers who originally established the town. It is believed that the Apache Chief Geronimo passed through Vail in his lifetime. One of the most popular attractions in Vail is the Colossal Cave Mountain Park. You’ll also enjoy wine tastings at the Charron Vineyards; championship level courses at Del Lago Golf Club and Santa Rita Country Club; great food at Argenziano’s, Nico’s, and Montgomery Grill & Saloon; shopping at Michael J. Clair Retailer; and local charm at C & S Kettle Corn. If you’re looking for a small town atmosphere with big city amenities, you’ll feel at home in Vail.
